  • Permits and inspections must be coordinated
  • You want to avoid costly rework, delays, and change orders

Whether you’re a homeowner or a general contractor, experienced plumbing project management ensures every phase is completed correctly the first time. From planning and rough-in to final fixture installation, Happy Hippo Plumbing works proactively to keep your project organized, on schedule, and built to the highest standards.

The Phases of a Ground-Up Plumbing Project

Every successful ground-up construction project follows a carefully planned sequence. At Happy Hippo Plumbing, we coordinate with the owner, architect, general contractor, and other trades to keep the project moving efficiently from start to finish.

1. Planning & Design

We review the plans, specifications, and plumbing layouts to ensure the system is designed for performance, code compliance, and constructability. Any potential issues are identified before construction begins.

2. Underground Plumbing (Under-Slab)

Before the concrete slab is poured, we install all underground drain, waste, vent, sewer, and water piping. The system is pressure tested and inspected to ensure everything is ready for the foundation.

3. Rough-In Plumbing

Once the structure is framed, we install water supply lines, drain and vent piping, gas lines, and all necessary plumbing infrastructure inside the walls, ceilings, and floors. This phase prepares the building for inspections and future fixture installation.

4. Inspections & System Testing

Throughout construction, we coordinate required plumbing inspections and perform our own quality checks to verify that every installation meets local building codes and project specifications before walls are closed.

Every plumbing system is thoroughly tested for proper water pressure, drainage, gas integrity, fixture operation, and overall performance. Final inspections are completed to obtain project approval.

5. Finish Plumbing (Trim-Out)

After drywall, flooring, cabinets, and finishes are complete, we install plumbing fixtures including sinks, faucets, toilets, showers, bathtubs, water heaters, hose bibs, and other finish components.

6. System Testing & Final Inspection

Every plumbing system is thoroughly tested for proper water pressure, drainage, gas integrity, fixture operation, and overall performance. Final inspections are completed to obtain project approval.

7. Project Completion & Owner Walkthrough

Once the plumbing system is fully operational, we perform a final walkthrough with the owner or general contractor, explain the installed equipment, answer any questions, and ensure everything is ready for occupancy.
